PHOENIX (AP) - Arizona State Treasurer Doug Ducey has officially announced his candidacy for the Republican nomination for governor of Arizona.

Ducey is the former CEO of Cold Stone Creamery and has been hinting at a run but officially announced his candidacy on Wednesday.

He says his campaign will focus on the economy and job creation, education and “solutions-driven” governance.

Former Mesa Mayor Scott Smith, Secretary of State Ken Bennett and former Maricopa County Attorney Andrew Thomas are also running in the Republican primary. Attorney Christine Jones and state Sen. Al Melvin are also GOP candidates.

Primary elections will be held Aug. 26. The general election is Nov. 4
