CONCORD, N.H. (AP) - Members of New Hampshire’s congressional delegation are supporting four Seacoast communities as they urge the Federal Railroad Administration to conduct a safety inspection of rail tracks that may be used to transport propane.
The tracks in Portsmouth and Newington are owned by Pan Am Railways. They would be used to transport the gas if an application by Sea-3 Inc. is approved to expand its gas facility and increase its capacity for off-loading propane from tank cars.
The rail cars would pass through Newington, Stratham, Greenland, and Portsmouth.
In addition to the inspection, Sens. Jeanne Shaheen and Kelly Ayotte and Congresswoman Carol Shea-Porter are asking that the railroad administration participate in a public forum to discuss track safety.
