AUGUSTA, Maine (AP) - Republican Gov. Paul LePage is honoring dozens of Maine lawmakers and staff who served in the military during four conflicts.
In a ceremony Wednesday, LePage recognized legislators and staff who served during the Korean, Vietnam, Cold War and Persian Gulf Wars.
LePage was joined by Brigadier General James Campbell, Maine’s adjutant general and Peter Ogden, director of Maine Veterans Services.
LePage says he’s thanking the veterans for “their continued service to their country and state.” He says Maine is the home to 140,000 veterans.
The ceremony is part of the “Honoring a Veteran” program, which recognizes veterans that served during both wartime and peacetime eras.
