SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) - The Miami Heat have traded Roger Mason Jr. to the Sacramento Kings for a protected 2015 second-round draft pick and cash.
The Heat announced the deal less than two hours before Thursday’s 3 p.m. EST trade deadline.
The move allowed Miami to open up another roster spot, while the Kings got an undisclosed amount of money. Mason, who averaged three points in 25 games for the Heat, is expected to be waived by Sacramento.
It’s the fourth trade the rebuilding Kings have made since the season started. Sacramento sent Luc Mbah a Moute to Minnesota for Derrick Williams on Nov. 26, acquired Rudy Gay in a seven-player deal with Toronto on Dec. 9 and traded Marcus Thornton to Brooklyn for Jason Terry and Reggie Evans on Wednesday.
