SEATTLE (AP) - An Issaquah, Wash., drywall contractor has been ordered to pay $550,000 in overtime back wages and damages to nearly 400 workers to settle a lawsuit filed by the U.S. Labor Department.
In a statement Thursday, the Labor Department said it has obtained a federal court consent judgment ordering Summit Drywall and its owner to pay the money to current and former employees.
The department says the company will pay $275,000 in back wages and another $275,000 in damages to workers who were illegally denied overtime from October 2009 to April 2013.
About 380 workers will receive money. Investigators found the workers were not compensated for all the hours they worked, including time spent traveling between job sites.
A Summit Drywall spokesman did not immediately return a call for comment Thursday evening.
