AUBURN HILLS, Mich. (AP) - Detroit Pistons guard Chauncey Billups had arthroscopic surgery on his left knee, and he’s expected to be evaluated after two to three weeks.
The team announced the operation Thursday. Billups had surgery to smooth irregularities in the meniscus and alleviate pain and inflammation.
Billups signed with Detroit as a free agent before the season, but he’s played only 19 games for the Pistons, averaging 3.8 points.
Detroit is 22-32 and losing ground in the race for a postseason spot in the Eastern Conference. The Pistons host Atlanta on Friday night.
