SEATTLE (AP) - The campaign for a $15 an hour minimum wage in Seattle is targeting 25 fast-food burger restaurants Thursday with what it calls “boycott McPoverty.”
A spokesman for the campaign, Sage Wilson of Working Washington, says several dozen demonstrators marched outside a popular McDonald’s restaurant Thursday morning. He says even the customers going inside for coffee or breakfast expressed support for low-wage workers.
Similar demonstrations are planned throughout the day at four or five restaurants, and Wilson says all 25 will be visited by boycott supporters.
The minimum wage in Washington is $9.32 an hour, the highest of any state.
