MIDDLEBURY, Vt. (AP) - A graduate of Vermont’s Middlebury College could prove pivotal to a Seahawks victory in the Super Bowl.
Steven Hauschka - a 2007 graduate of Middlebury College - was a standout soccer player when friends on the football team recruited him to be their kicker.
The Burlington Free Press reports (https://bfpne.ws/1ikibZT ) that he missed three of four field goal attempts in his first game, then went on to shatter school kicking records.
Playing as a graduate student at Division-I University of North Carolina, he made 16 of 18 field goal attempts.
The Needham, Mass. native joined the Seattle Seahawks in 2011. He made 33 of 35 field goal attempts during regular season play leading up to the Super Bowl match with the Denver Broncos.
