BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) - A coastal Alabama resort is offering free two-night stays to Birmingham-area teachers who stayed overnight with stranded students during the snowstorm earlier this week.

General manager of The Beach Club, David Clark, told AL.com (https://bit.ly/LoMmD2 ) that managers decided to offer free stays to educators who went the extra mile as a way to thank them for service that he called heroic.

The Gulf Shores resort is offering free condo stays to 50 educators and the first 25 recipients have already been selected. The resort posted an announcement about the offer on its Facebook page. Clark says managers have been overwhelmed with messages from people nominating teachers they feel deserve a free mini-vacation.

Winners of the two-night stays will be announced Feb. 5 on the resort’s Facebook page.
