DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) - Two Iowa couples decided to tie the knot at this weekend’s bacon festival at the state fairgrounds in Des Moines.

Tricia Snider and Tom Watson were the first to wed Saturday at the Blue Ribbon Bacon Festival, the Des Moines Register reported (https://dmreg.co/1gEc994 ). Craig and April Rouch got married a short while later.

Watson and Snider say they figured the bacon festival was the perfect location to exchange vows because they enjoy bacon together every weekend.

The 47-year-old Watson said his 41-year-old bride is nearly the No. 1 love in his life.

“She’s second only to bacon,” Watson said.

The chapel where the couple married had a wall full of windows that looked out over an arena full of vendors selling bacon-filled foods.

They exchanged vows about staying together “in good times and bacon,” but for the most part they kept their ceremony traditional.

Afterward, a cake topped with a bacon-strip bride and groom awaited the couple and their guests.

Before Watson, Snider and their guests got to the reception, and the pork loins Watson had wrapped with bacon and smoked, they spent time touring the exhibit halls at the festival.
