BURLINGTON, Vt. (AP) - Drivers and the management of Vermont’s Chittenden County Transportation Authority say a strike is possible if the two sides are unable to settle an ongoing contract dispute.
Drivers and supporters gathered in Burlington on Wednesday where they claimed the CCTA management was pushing for unfair working conditions.
The two sides have been in an extended standoff since contract negotiation failed in September. The drivers say a “best and final offer” from CCTA management was unacceptable.
Vermont Public Radio (https://bit.ly/1d1dhw4 ) reports the disagreements focus on working hours, the hiring of part-time drivers and working conditions.
CCTA says it’s most recent offer increased the time between split shifts’ start and end time and it reduced the number of part-time drivers.
The two sides are scheduled to meet Friday with a mediator.
