SEOUL, South Korea (AP) - Arsenal striker Park Chu-young has been recalled by South Korea for the first time in thirteen months for a World Cup warm up against Greece in March, while ex-Manchester United star Park Ji-sung will not join the sqaud.
A lack of playing time with Arsenal cost Park Chu-young his international place, but that should change with a recent loan move to English League Championship side Watford.
Hong denied that Park, with 23 goals in 61 international appearances, was guaranteed a place in South Korea World Cup squad, telling reporters Wednesday; “I have decided about 80 percent of my final roster and will decide my starting line-up in June.”
Hong admitted defeat in trying to persuade former captain Park Ji-sung to return, largely over concerns for the PSV Eindhoven midfielder’s knee.
