SOCHI, Russia (AP) - The Dutch swept their fourth podium, but Norway was even more impressive.
Norway won two gold medals and a silver on Tuesday to be the biggest medal mover of the day, jumping to second behind Germany in the overall medal standings through 67 of 98 events. Joergen Graabak won gold and Magnus Hovdal Moan won silver in the Nordic combined large hill while Emile Hegle Svendsen won the men’s 15-kilometer mass start biathlon.
All of Norway’s 18 medals in Sochi are in snow sports.
The Netherlands’ sweep in the men’s 10,000-meter speedskating moved it into a tie for first with the United States with 20 total medals.
France also placed in three events on the 11th day medals were awarded.
Eight medal events were set for Wednesday, including men’s giant slalom Alpine skiing, men’s and women’s parallel giant slalom snowboarding, men’s and women’s team sprint classic cross country, women’s 5,000-meter speedskating, 2 by 6-kilometer women plus 2 by 7.5 kilometer men’s mixed relay and women’s bobsled.
