BEDFORD, Va. (AP) - A Lynchburg woman has been sentenced to three years in prison for embezzling from her former employer.

Vickie Elkins McPhearson also must pay restitution of $110,000.

The News & Advance (https://bit.ly/1nNoVzY ) reports that McPhearson was sentenced Tuesday in Bedford County Circuit Court. She had pleaded guilty in November 2013 to embezzlement and money laundering.

McPhearson admitted during Tuesday’s sentencing hearing to taking the money from Witt Mechanical. She formerly was the company’s bookkeeper.
