BLOOMINGTON, Ill. (AP) - The Illinois High School Association disqualified the Homewood-Flossmoor High School girls basketball team from the state playoffs over bylaw violations

The IHSA announced Wednesday the team will also forfeit all its games for the current season for violations uncovered by an investigation prompted by a lawsuit. The lawsuit was filed over the transfer from other schools by four current Homewood-Flossmoor players.

According to the IHSA, Homewood-Flossmoor principal Ryan Pitcock self-reported rules violations, including improper conditioning programs. Pitcock also informed the IHSA that head coach Anthony Smith violated rules by attending an AAU event and watching a game in which his players participated.

In a statement, IHSA Executive Director Marty Hickman said because other teams in the Class 4A tournament abided by the rules, disqualifying Homewood-Flossmoor was “the most equitable decision.”
