LOS ANGELES (AP) - Three people linked to a Southern California medical clinic that billed Medicare and Medi-Cal for more than $20 million in medications and non-existent services have been found guilty of fraud.
The Los Angeles Daily News says (https://bit.ly/1cqwhY2 ) 47-year-old Kenneth Johnson, 49-year-old Nuritsa Grigoryan and 32-year-old Artak Ovesepian will be sentenced in June. Each faces more than 30 years in prison.
The three were implicated in a scam centered around Manor Medical clinic in Glendale. Federal prosecutors said they stole the identities of elderly, homeless or military veterans and then used the IDs to bill Medicare and Medi-Cal for anti-psychotic drugs. They then sold the drugs on the black market.
Thirteen others have already been convicted in connection with the scheme.
