SCHAUMBURG, Ill. (AP) - Police in Schaumburg are letting the community ride along with an officer - via Twitter.

The Schaumburg Police Department plans a virtual ride-along with a patrol officer on Friday. The public can follow Officer Ken Feeley on the Chicago suburb’s official Twitter account, @SchaumburgIL. The Daily Herald reports (https://bit.ly/1j8G1bg) residents can follow Feeley from 6:45 a.m. to 3:15 p.m. that day.

Department officials say they want to show the public the daily life of a police officer. The department plans a second Twitter event on March 7. That day residents can follow a new recruit at the police academy. The department hopes to offer Twitter days about five or six times a year.
