CHEYENNE, Wyo. (AP) - Developments at the Wyoming Legislature on Tuesday, Feb. 18, the seventh day of the 2014 Budget Session:
BUDGET BILL: Both the House and the Senate gave initial approval to the $3.3-billion general government appropriations bill. Top lawmakers say they expect both houses to vote on amendments this week and send the bill to a conference committee by Friday that will resolve differences in the House and Senate versions.
CRIMINAL PROCEDURE: The Wyoming Senate gave initial approval to a bill that would allow people who have been convicted of felonies to ask the courts for a new trial based on a claims that non-DNA evidence proves they’re innocent.
STATE PARKS: The House for the third time approved a bill that would allow law enforcement officers who work at state parks to participate in the state’s law enforcement retirement plan. It now heads to the Senate.
LIGHT BULBS: The Senate gave it third approval to a bill that would exempt people who routinely replace light bulbs from licensure requirements. The bill now goes to the House.
GAME AND FISH: The Senate for the third time voted to approve a bill that would require the Wyoming Game and Fish Department to submit separate budget requests to fund its grizzly bear management program and its employee health insurance costs. The bill now goes to the house.
SOCIAL MEDIA: The House received from the Senate a bill that would prohibit an employer from requesting or requiring access to a social media account of an employee or prospective employee.
