GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (AP) - Another winter storm moved across Michigan, snarling traffic on roads in the western part of the state as several inches of snow fell.

The National Weather Service says snow started Monday afternoon in Grand Rapids and roughly 3 to 4 inches had fallen by early evening. As snow fell, crashes closed portions of Interstate 96 in the Grand Rapids area. The Muskegon area saw whiteout conditions.

The Kalamazoo Gazette reports part of I-94 in Van Buren County was shut after a multi-vehicle crash.

By the time the storm moves out of the state Tuesday, the weather service says western Michigan could see 4 to 6 inches. More is possible in places. Southeastern Michigan including Detroit could get 3 to 6 inches. Northern Michigan could get 3 to 5 inches.
