MOSES LAKE, Wash. (AP) - Grant County authorities say the 16-year-old boy shot and killed near Moses Lake on Sunday had also been shot in early January.

The Spokesman-Review (https://bit.ly/1m2sovy) reports the Grant County sheriff is asking for the public’s help in identifying the killer of Brandon Michael Mende.

Mende was shot around 3 a.m. Sunday. The sheriff’s office says he was also shot twice on Jan. 20 after being chased on Arlington Drive in Moses Lake by an unidentified assailant.

Sheriff Tom Jones says they believe neither shooting was random.

He says neither Mende nor witnesses to the crime cooperated with detectives after the January shooting. He is hopeful witnesses will come forward this time.
