SOCHI, Russia (AP) - Russia plans to give goaltender Semyon Varlamov another chance to play.

The team announced Varlamov will start Sunday against Slovakia, the final preliminary-round game for both teams.

Sergei Bobrovsky was in net for the Russians in a 3-2 shootout loss Saturday to the U.S.

Varlamov played in Russia’s Sochi Games opener, a 5-2 victory over Slovenia. After that game, a reporter told Russian coach Zinetula Bilyaletdinov it would be “a death sentence” to play Varlamov against the Americans.
