SOCHI, Russia (AP) - Noora Raty stopped 21 shots to help Finland beat Germany 2-1 on Sunday and earn a spot in the Olympic women’s hockey fifth-place game.

Jenni Hiirikoski and Michelle Karvinen gave Finland 2-0 lead in the first period. Bettina Evers scored in the second period to make it a one-goal game, but Germany could get no closer.

Jennifer Harss made 25 saves for Germany, which beat only Japan in the opening round. The Germans will play in the seventh-place game.

Finland is the defending Olympic bronze medalist and the No. 3 team in the world, largely on the strength of Raty, a two-time NCAA champion at the University of Minnesota. But a loss to Switzerland in the quarterfinals eliminated the Finns from medal contention.
