ATLANTA (AP) - Hall of Famer Hank Aaron is recovering from a partial left hip replacement.

The Atlanta Braves said Saturday the 80-year-old Aaron fell on ice on Friday and had the procedure later in the day.

The Braves say Dr. Scott Gillogly, who performed the procedure, says a full recovery is expected and Aaron should return to his routine activities within six to eight weeks.

The team plans to honor the 40th anniversary of Aaron’s record-breaking 715th home run on April 8 before their home opener against the Mets.

Braves president John Schuerholz said in a statement the Braves have Aaron “in our thoughts and prayers and wish him a complete and speedy recovery.”
