HIGHLAND PARK, Ill. (AP) - Olympic figure skater Jason Brown’s hometown has honored him with a 10-foot tall ice sculpture.
The northern Chicago suburb of Highland Park on Thursday unveiled the ice sculpture of the 19-year-old skater. It’s in the town’s Port Clinton Square and shows Brown doing a spin. The News Sun reports (https://bit.ly/1ji667i) a crowd of public officials, friends and fans attended.
Brown finished ninth overall at the Sochi Winter Games. He earned a bronze medal in the team competition with his fellow U.S. skaters.
Highland Park Mayor Nancy Rotering says that in his hometown, Brown is “already a winner.”
Ice sculptor Kristopher Duschen says his team used 15 blocks of ice to create the sculpture.
