DENVER (AP) - The head of Colorado’s wildlife department has been cited for trespassing while hunting.
According to documents provided Friday by the Department of Natural Resources, which oversees wildlife, executive director Mike King received the citation, which carries a possible fine of $100, in October in Routt County. The department said King was to appear in court on the charges Feb. 26 and would have no immediate comment.
According to the reports provided by the department, a wildlife division officer said property owners had confronted King and his teen-age son because they believed the two had been hunting on their land without permission. The officer determined the trespassing was inadvertent. The property owners wanted charges pursued and said they held owners of a neighboring ranch responsible for trespassing problems involving visiting hunters.
