TRENTON, N.J. (AP) - Gov. Chris Christie took off Friday morning for a weekend family vacation in a warm-weather destination while New Jersey dug out from a snowstorm.

Christie spokesman Colin Reed said the governor and his family flew from New Jersey after the storm had passed.

Christie closed state offices Thursday, and delayed the reopening until 10:30 a.m. Friday.

The Christies are expected to return Monday.

More snow is expected before then.

Christie got high marks for his response to Superstorm Sandy but was criticized for leaving the state on a family trip to Disney World before a storm hit in 2010.

On Tuesday, the governor is planning to hold his first town hall since a political payback scandal broke in January involving the blocking of traffic lanes approaching the George Washington Bridge.
