FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP) - Gov. Steve Beshear heads to Germany on Saturday for an economic development trip to develop automotive industry growth opportunities.

Beshear’s office says Kentucky Economic Development Secretary Larry Hayes and Acting Commissioner of Business Development Mandy Lambert are among officials with the cabinet traveling with Beshear. They return Wednesday.

The governor’s office says more than 5,100 people in Kentucky work at 15 Germany automotive companies located in the state.

Last year, Beshear announced 12 German-owned companies were locating or expanding in Kentucky.
