PRESCOTT, Ariz. (AP) - Congressman Paul Gosar has undergone successful hip-replacement surgery.
Spokesman Garrett Hawkins says the 55-year-old Arizona Republican’s surgery took place Friday in his home state.
Hawkins says the operation went well and Gosar is in recovery.
According to Hawkins, Gosar has been having increasing discomfort in his hip as a result of playing rugby in college.
Hawkins says recoveries from hip replacements can take up to 20 days, and Gosar won’t be able to return to Washington until his doctor clears him to fly once the risk of blood clots has passed.
Gosar is serving his second term in the House. He represents Arizona’s 4th Congressional District, which includes west-central and northwestern Arizona.
Hawkins says Gosar has been in Arizona this week for tests and other preparations for the surgery.
