WAUSAU, Wis. (AP) - The city of Wausau has adopted a ban on hand-held cellphones while driving.

The City Council passed an ordinance Tuesday that prohibits drivers from using hand-held electronic devices, but allows hands-free phones. GPS devices are also allowed, provided the drivers set their destinations beforehand.

The Daily Herald Media (https://wdhne.ws/1eQeNHc ) says violators will be fined $40, plus court costs. City Council members say they have received many calls from residents who support the ordinance and few against it.
