Sonora, Mexico, authorities have a message to parents of newborns: Quit naming your babies dumb names like Facebook and Circumcision.
The state has taken it on itself to legislate a ban on such names — a total of 61, The Associated Press reported.
The goal is to keep parents from dubbing their kids “derogatory” or harmful names that will limit their chances for success later in life, Sonora authorities said.
“The law is very clear because it prohibits giving children names that are derogatory or that don’t have any meaning and that can lead to bullying,” said Sonora state Civil Registry Director Cristina Ramirez in the AP report.
Also on the list: Rambo, Lady Di and the Spanish equivalents of Martian and Circumcision, which is Marciana and Circuncision, respectively.
Sonora is located across the border from Arizona.
