COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) - Snow, sleet and freezing rain have closed schools in much of South Carolina and are causing problems on the state’s roads.
The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm warning for most of the state Wednesday and for much of the day Thursday.
Early Wednesday, light snow was reported in Aiken, Anderson, Clemson, Greenwood and Walterboro. Freezing rain was reported in Charleston, Columbia, North Myrtle Beach,
Snowfall was expected to range from as much as 10 inches in the mountains to an inch or less in Columbia and along the north coast.
An ice storm warning is in effect along the south coast. Up to an inch of ice is possible from Columbia and in the inland areas of the coast.
