Several cars on display at the National Corvette Museum in Bowling Green, Ky., were damaged Wednesday when they fell into a sinkhole that spread 40 feet wide, 25 feet deep.
Eight cars were damaged, including a 1993 ZR-1 Spyder and a 2009 ZR1 Blue Devil that were on loan from General Motors, according to the Associated Press.
City spokeswoman Kim Lancaster said the hole’s opening set off an alarm, but nobody was in the museum at the time and no injuries were reported.
The sinkhole collapsed an entire section of the flooring, but the museum only shut down portions of its facility. Tourists are still free to visit the other sections, Miss Lancaster told AP.
Other cars damaged included a 1962 black Corvette, a 1984 PPG Pace Car, a 1992 White 1 Millionth Corvette, a 1993 Ruby Red 40th Anniversary Corvette, a 2001 Mallett Hammer Z06 Corvette and a 2009 white 1.5 Millionth Corvette.
