PITTSBURGH (AP) - Pittsburgh-based health insurer Highmark Inc. has laid off 132 workers in its information technology and sales sections.

Spokesman Aaron Bilger says 65 of the jobs have been eliminated in Pittsburgh, and the rest in Camp Hill and other offices.

Bilger says the cuts are part of a “restructuring” to “increase efficiencies and streamline operations.”

Highmark has about 5,000 employees and plans to create 96 new information technology jobs. But Bilger says those jobs will be different than those cut, and require workers with different qualifications.

He says the company wants to “match the right skill set with the right jobs.”
