CADILLAC, Mich. (AP) - A state Department of Natural Resources employee is the National Wild Turkey Federation’s Michigan chapter Educator of the Year for 2013.
The award was presented to Ed Shaw during the NWTF Michigan State Chapter Convention meeting last month in Big Rapids.
Shaw works at the DNR’s Carl T. Johnson Hunt and Fish Center in Cadillac, where he coordinates hunting, fishing, trapping and other conservation-focused programming.
DNR official Kristin Phillips says Shaw and his staff at the Hunt and Fish Center have delivered conservation programming to more than 10,000 participants.
And National Wild Turkey Federation state board member Jon Gray says Shaw’s “extraordinary efforts have brought conservation education, including a great turkey program, to many of the classrooms in the Northwest Lower Peninsula.”
