FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (AP) - The University of Arkansas’ Bobby Portis has been named the Southeastern Conference Freshman of the Week.

Portis was announced as the winner of the weekly award Monday night after scoring 35 points last Wednesday in a win over Alabama. The 35 points broke the 20-year-old Arkansas freshman scoring record held by Scott Thurman. Portis averaged 21.5 points and seven rebounds per game in two games last week - both wins as UA defeated Alabama and Vanderbilt.

Portis has now been named SEC Freshman of the Week three times this season.
