OPINION:
Radio show host Steve Deace, a rising conservative voice in the Midwest, is joining The Washington Times as a regular contributor to its opinion team, Editor John Solomon announced Wednesday.
Mr. Deace, 40, will join the growing list of VIP contributors to The Times’ Communities portal online, which is slated to be relaunched later this month. He also will provide Times’ readers with regular updates about the early jockeying for the 2016 presidential caucuses in his home state of Iowa.
The Times and Mr. Deace are also working on a plan to distribute his nationally-syndicated program to its audience later this spring.
“I’m very excited to be joining The Washington Times, which is one of the most respected and established brands in the conservative movement,” Mr. Deace said. “The Washington Times was there shining a light in the liberal media darkness. For a Midwestern kid who grew up in the Reagan ’80s to now find himself a part of this team is an honor.”
The Times plans to use Mr. Deace to provide eyes and ears on the ground for its Iowa political coverage, while also tapping his passion to share conservative values to a new generation of Americans.
“Steve represents a new generation of conservative thinker who is eager to apply the core values of the movement to today’s pressing problems. He’s a refreshing voice who will offer our readers common-sense solutions to expand liberty and shrink government,” Mr. Solomon said.
Mr. Deace’s influence in Iowa has been trumpeted by Fox News, Breitbart.com and The Atlantic. His nationally-syndicated talk show is heard coast-to-coast each weeknight from 9 p.m.-midnight Eastern.
