INDIANAPOLIS (AP) - The Indiana governor’s office says more than $1.8 million raised by selling a state airplane is going to support the state police.
The 2001 Beechcraft Super King Air B200 twin-turbine aircraft was sold Jan. 30 to Florida-based American Aviation for $134,000 more than the state Department of Administration sought for it. The Florida business offers flight classes and airplane repairs.
Gov. Mike Pence’s office estimated in December the plane that had been used for travel by the governor would sell for $2.5 million.
Pence joked about putting the plane up for sale during his State of the State address last month. He drew laughter when he said, “If you know anyone looking for a great deal on a Beechcraft King Air 200, give me a call.”
