PULLMAN, Wash. (AP) - Civil service employees at Washington State University will receive a one-time, 4 percent increase of base salary.

WSU President Elson Floyd said on his blog the state has “a culture of fair wages,” even in tight budget circumstances.

The Moscow-Pullman Daily News reports (https://bit.ly/1jsXI82 ) reports it will be the first pay increase for civil service employees since the university offered a one-time, 2 percent payment in 2012.

The university has about 2,500 civil service employees. Those receiving the raise include custodial workers, those in dining services and clerical support staff.
