NEW YORK (AP) - A New York City chemistry teacher has been reassigned pending an investigation after two of her students suffered burns during a lab experiment.
According to the New York Post (https://bit.ly/1bIfDjl ), school officials say Anna Poole has been removed from class to a “rubber room.” She taught at the elite Beacon School on Manhattan’s Upper West Side.
The Jan. 2 experiment produced a fireball that engulfed a 16-year-old sophomore who remains hospitalized. Another student was treated for first-degree burns and released.
The popular chemistry experiment uses methanol to burn dishes of materials, producing a variety of colored flames.
