CHICAGO (AP) - New Jersey’s governor is visiting Chicago.
Republican Chris Christie plans to speak to the Economic Club of Chicago on Tuesday.
Christie will have a “conversation” moderated by Motorola Solutions CEO Greg Brown. He’s also working to raise money for the Republican Governors Association that he chairs.
Tuesday’s visit is his first public appearance since a two-hour news conference last month where he discussed a bridge-closure scandal.
Emails show Christie’s staff was involved in ordering a September shutdown of access lanes to the George Washington Bridge. It’s an action viewed by some as retribution against a Democratic mayor.
Christie has denied involvement. Still, the scandal has taken a toll on the governor who is considered a possible 2016 presidential candidate.
