FORT JACKSON, S.C. (AP) - The general in charge of the Army’s largest training installation is inviting the public to see how soldiers live and train.
Brig. Gen. Bradley Becker is inviting the public to a seven-hour tour of Fort Jackson on Thursday, Feb. 20, and the deadline for reservations is Tuesday, Feb. 11.
During the tour, local citizens are able to attend soldiers’ graduation ceremonies from basic combat training.
Citizens can see how soldiers train in the field and learn to shoot a simulator for the M16A2 rifle. They have lunch in an Army dining hall and pose questions to Army commanders.
Lunch cost is $4.60. Advance reservations are required with a call to Fort Jackson Community Relations at 803-751-1474.
