A world traveler who says he carries his son’s Toy Story “Woody” cowboy figure with him everywhere he goes sent out a bemused social media commentary about his stop at Heathrow Airport, where he said security agents went a little overboard with their searches.
They confiscated Woody’s miniature 6-shooter, less than 2 inches in length, branding it a terror risk, The Daily Mail reported.
The traveler — who said he snaps pictures of Woody in all the settings he visits to send home to his son — posted photos of the confiscation on social media, along with this comment: “At Heathrow, security just confiscated his ’weapon,’ keep the world safe boys.”
Hundreds of commenters at the website Reddit expressed their outrage.
“I’m just imagining what it would be like if he tried to hijack an airplane with that small gun. People squinting looking at his hand,” one wrote.
And another: “Pathetic. What happened to common sense?”
And one more: “Did they find the snake in his boot?”
Woody figures aren’t normally sold with a gun, so it’s not clear where the mini-shooter came from, The Daily Mail reported. In the “Toy Story” movies, Woody’s holster is empty, and he does not carry any weapon.
A Department For Transport spokesperson said in The Daily Mail: “We do not comment on specific incidents or details of our security regime. Airports and airlines can use their discretion to remove any item being carried in hand luggage when they believe it may be perceived as a threat.”
