LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. (AP) - Police are investigating a shooting that took place inside a suburban Atlanta grocery store.

Lawrenceville police spokesman Greg Vaughn told local media outlets that two women were shot at a Kroger store Monday afternoon and two persons of interest have been taken into custody. Vaughn told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution one woman was shot in her leg and another was wounded in the torso.

Vaughn says the shooting stemmed from an altercation, but details on what led to the fight are unclear.

Vaughn says the victims have been hospitalized with non-life threatening injuries.

In a statement, Kroger officials said the store was “evacuated and will reopen at a later date.” Kroger officials say no store employees were injured, and the company is working closely with local police in their investigation.
