ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) - The head of the New York National Guard has wrapped up a visit to troops from the Empire State serving in the Persian Gulf.

Officials at National Guard headquarters in suburban Albany that Maj. Gen. Patrick Murphy finished his visit to Kuwait this past weekend.

The adjutant general of New York visited with the 450 soldiers from the Rochester-based 642 Aviation Support Battalion and the Latham-based 42nd Combat Aviation Brigade and 142nd Aviation. The units arrived in Kuwait last month after training at Fort Hood in Texas since October.

The 642nd also has members who are based at armories in Olean and Dunkirk in western New York and the Army Aviation Support Facility in Ronkonkoma on Long Island.
