HARRISONBURG, Va. (AP) - Ron Curry scored five points in the final two minutes and finished with 20 points and six assists to give James Madison a 59-53 victory over Hofstra Monday night.
James Madison (9-16, 4-7 Colonial Athletic Association) which had lost three consecutive conference games, had to weather a late rally by Hofstra to get the win. The Dukes had a comfortable 34-24 halftime advantage and were up 46-29 with 14:00 remaining in the game. The Hofstra defense then shut down the Dukes, scoring 18 unanswered points to lead 47-46 with 6:27 left.
James Madison retook the lead following a layup by Curry and held on for the win.
The Dukes missed all 11 3-point attempts but hit 21 of 48 from the field, while Hofstra made only 29.1 percent field goal attempts.
Zeke Upshaw scored 15 points and Jamall Robinson and Dion Nesmith had 10 apiece for Hofstra (8-18, 4-7).
