WILMINGTON, Del. (AP) - The former police chief of Wilmington has been working for New Castle County just two weeks, but she is already getting a promotion and a raise.

Christine Dunning retired as Wilmington’s chief last month and took a job as an assistant to County Executive Tom Gordon. That post paid about $62,000 a year.

Over the weekend Gordon named Dunning the county’s chief human resource officer with an annual salary of $107,000, about what she made in her old job.

Dunning, who ran the police department’s human resources department before serving as chief, gets a pension of more than $70,000 from the city for her 27 years on the force.
