Five men in Florida — including four fraternity brothers — were killed in an early morning crash when a suspected drunken driver who was speeding the wrong way down a highway smashed into their vehicle.
Shortly before, a family of four was killed on a California roadway due to the same reason — a speeding car being driven on the wrong side of the highway crashed head-on into their SUV.
The driver, Olivia Culbreath, 21, of Fontana, was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence and manslaughter in connection with the crash, police said, The Associated Press reported.
Two of her passengers were thrown from the car and killed in the crash, too.
In Florida, the crash resulted when a Ford Expedition drove in a southerly direction at a high rate of speed in the northbound lanes, and crashed into a Hyundai carting four young men, between the ages of 20 and 22, all belonging to the same fraternity. The driver of the Ford, in his 20s, was killed, also, The Daily Mail reported.
The wrecks on separate ends of the country both took place within hours of each other.
