PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) - State police say an early-morning wrong-way crash on Interstate 95 has left five people hurt.

State Police Lt. Robert S. Wall says the crash happened around 3 a.m. Saturday near exit 20. He says both occupants of the car traveling the wrong direction suffered critical injuries.

Wall says he doesn’t believe the wrong-way driver was on the highway for very long because authorities received few reports about the incident.

The crash is under investigation.
