SCRANTON, Pa. (AP) - About 6,500 people in the Scranton area who have been without water since Thursday night may soon see service restored.
The Scranton Times-Tribune of Scranton reported Saturday (https://bit.ly/1abylo6 ) that Pennsylvania American Water officials said water could be flowing into homes and businesses within 24 hours.
A break in a 36-inch main cut off water to many people in parts of South Scranton, Moosic and the Keyser Valley.
The utility says a crew clamped the transmission line near the leak overnight and they’re working to fill it and the various distribution lines.
Officials warn customers may have cloudy water and should boil water before using it. Customers are also being advised to run the cold water at the highest point from where the water enters their home to purge bubbles.
