PHILADELPHIA (AP) - An anti-union group is in line to get the home addresses of thousands of state workers and retirees following a decision by the Pennsylvania Office of Open Records.
The Philadelphia Inquirer reported Friday (https://bit.ly/1cH9tDT ) that the records agency ordered the release of the addresses through the State Employees’ Retirement System.
The records had been sought by Pennsylvanians for Union Reform, a group led by Simon Campbell, a resident of Bucks County in the Philadelphia suburbs.
Office of Open Records executive director Terry Mutchler tells the newspaper the dispute highlights the challenge of balancing the accessibility of public information with the rights of people who may be affected by the release.
As part of the matter, the retirement system in December notified some 187,000 members about the dispute.
